Access to quality education and good jobs in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEMM) are still out of reach for many Black, Brown, Indigenous people, women, and other marginalized communities.
It’s no secret that America needs a serious game plan to ensure that our STEMM workforce reflects the demographics of the nation.
The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, CHIPS & Science Act, and Inflation Reduction Act will generate millions of new STEMM jobs across the country and provide a foundation for economic growth and prosperity for generations to come.
But if diverse talent isn’t able to access and thrive in those jobs, the nation won’t have the STEMM workforce it needs to compete globally, inequity will get even worse, and we will replicate occupational segregation plaguing Silicon Valley today.
