From the Community: CivicSpace Survey Reveals Chicagoland Priorities to Financially Thrive
Event
Join New America Chicago’s CivicSpace program for a virtual briefing on the findings from our first community survey. We checked in with 515 Cook County residents to learn what people earning $60,000 a year or less need to succeed financially. Given that CivicSpace is committed to building better feedback loops between residents and policymakers to ensure the lived experience of community members is heard, it is imperative for the program to test and refine our priorities against community needs as well as amplify the results to our network.
The survey findings span across our different areas of work (Access to Tax Credits, The Future of Work & Benefits, Safe Financial Products, Affordable Housing, and Equitable Technology) and offer surprising insights as to what low- to moderate-income households in Cook County prioritize for their financial well-being across racial, political and other demographic dimensions.
Speakers include Meegan Dugan Adell and Vanessa Rangel from New America Chicago. Thank you to our generous funders The Chicago Community Trust, Steans Family Foundation, and Field Foundation of Illinois for their support.
