Celebrating the Week of the Young Child
Blog Post

April 8, 2019
With two young daughters at home, ages 16 months and 6 ¾ (it’s important to add the three-quarters), celebrating young children is about more than the work I do at New America. It is personal. I am constantly amazed by their insights, questions, and curiosity about the world around them.
Throughout the week, we’ll be posting some writing and resources on Twitter that match with the Week of the Young Child #WOYC19 themes. Be sure to follow us here @newamericaed. To kick things off on Music Monday, here are my kids showing off their dance moves.

Ok, enough celebrating just my two amazing (in my biased opinion, of course) kids. In honor of the National Association of the Education of Young Children’s (NAEYC’s) Week of the Young Child, I want to share some of the Early & Elementary Education Policy team’s past writing focused on our youngest learners and how to build on their curiosities and help them thrive and succeed later in school and in life.
Last month our team created this new page on what it looks like to promote young children’s growth and discovery. We have also done extensive writing on the role of early childhood educators in helping to lay a strong foundation for young children and what high-quality looks like in pre-K. And, over the years, our team has promoted the importance of a strong, well-connected early learning continuum for children and their families.
