PAYA Youth Council Lunch Symposium
Event
Lancy Downs
Join the Partnership to Advance Youth Apprenticeship (PAYA) at New America for a lunch symposium with the PAYA Youth Council on Tuesday, November 18 from 11:30 am–1:30 pm.
The PAYA Youth Council—a group of 15 current and former youth apprentices from around the country—have spent 2025 collaborating virtually on self-designed projects focused on improving access to apprenticeship for young people. This November, they will convene in Washington, DC to share their work with friends and colleagues of PAYA and New America.
At this lunchtime symposium, listen to these remarkable young people present findings from their projects. You’ll have the opportunity to meet the Council members, learn about their work this year, and speak with them about how apprenticeship has impacted their lives. Presentation topics include:
- Why youth apprenticeship is vital to rural communities
- How youth apprentices can be effective advocates for apprenticeship
- What recruitment strategies for youth apprenticeship programs resonate with high school students
- How youth apprentice voice can be used to strengthen apprenticeship programs
