Washington, D.C. – Acting Secretary of Labor Julie A. Su has announced that Taylor White, the director of the Partnership to Advance Youth Apprenticeship and Postsecondary Pathways for Youth at New America, has been appointed to the Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship (ACA) at the U.S. Department of Labor. The ACA seeks to provide advice and recommendations to the secretary on how to enhance the apprenticeship training model to provide “equitable career pathways that advance the dignity of work for everyone.”

The ACA has approximately 30 members with representation from employers, labor organizations, unions, community colleges, and members of the public. In particular, the ACA focuses on improving the national apprenticeship model; expanding apprenticeship into new industries and sectors; and ensuring that all workers can join and succeed in a national apprenticeship system.

“I am honored to have the privilege to serve on the Department of Labor’s ACA. Americans need more reliable, affordable ways to access the education, training, and experience they need to enter and succeed in the labor market. Apprenticeship can do exactly that, but it is currently underutilized in the quest to create greater economic opportunity," said White. "As a member of the ACA, I look forward to contributing to the Department’s efforts to strengthen and expand the U.S. apprenticeship system and to make it more accessible for new industries, new partners, and new populations of workers, including youth and young adults.”

Members will serve for two years from the date of appointment.
