When local leaders have real-time eviction data, they can design effective eviction prevention that meets the needs of their communities. The Future of Land and Housing program at New America has brought together government, university, and nonprofit partners representing 11 U.S. regions and jurisdictions into an Eviction Data Response Network (EDRN). While network partners’ current access to eviction data varies, as do their political, regulatory, and administrative environments, they are united in a belief that improved access to and analysis of local eviction data can help them pass responsive policies, target resources, and otherwise intervene to keep families stably housed.

Over the next year, FLH will provide mentorship and technical assistance for network partners to access, analyze, and report their local eviction data, potentially through the development of eviction data dashboards, with the ultimate goal of building a local culture around using eviction data for data-driven policymaking and interventions. We will also provide cross-learning opportunities for network partners, and will elevate their experiences into federal policy conversations about improving eviction data.

Participation for network partners is free, thanks to generous support from the Social Safety Net Product Studio at Digital Harbor Foundation and Melville Charitable Trust.
