Tips for Success

  • Leverage your unique perspective: the purpose of the fellowship is to encourage diversity of representation, but also diversity of thought and perspective. Why are you uniquely positioned to do that project you propose? What can you bring to the current dialogue that is different?
  • Be future-forward: as a next generation leader, think about next-generation issues. Are the issues you're focusing on going to be relevant in 2-5 years? How does your topic intersect with other issues of the future, like climate change or surveillance?
  • Prepare your application sooner rather than later: the essay questions will be time intensive, not only because you will need to address several points in your project proposal, but because this is your opportunity to show us your voice. Take time to draft and refine your essay questions, and ensure your responses are clear and concise.
