[ONLINE] - The Splendid and the Vile When It Comes to Leadership
Event
The story of Winston Churchill's stubborn and contagious defiance against all odds after Hitler's defeat of France and his Luftwaffe's pummeling of London is a familiar one that acquires renewed urgency in Erik Larson's masterful telling, and as we yearn for examples of inspired leadership in our own time of crisis. Larson's book The Splendid and the Vile: A Saga of Churchill, Family, and Defiance During the Blitz also caught Future Tense's attention for its portrayal of Churchill as a leader who understood technology (or at least the importance of empowering technologists and holding them to account) and of the British prime minister as a man who truly mastered the art of working from home.
For all these reasons, we've invited Larson to discuss The Splendid and the Vile, and invite you to join the conversation online Tuesday, May 5 for less than an hour at 4:00 pm EDT.
