Zachary Karabell
Founder of the Progress Network
Zachary Karabell is the founder of the Progress Network. He is an author, columnist, and investor and president of River Twice Capital. Previously, he was Head of Global Strategies at Envestnet, a publicly traded financial services firm. Prior to that, he was President of Fred Alger & Company. In addition, he ran the River Twice Fund from 2011–2013, an alternative fund that focused on sustainability. Educated at Columbia, Oxford and Harvard, where he received his PhD, Karabell has written widely on history, economics, and international relations. His next book, Inside Money: Brown Brothers Harriman and the American Way of Power, will be published by Penguin Press in May 2021. His last book was The Leading Indicators: A Short History of the Numbers That Rule Our World, and he is the author of eleven previous books, including Peace Be Upon You: The Story of Muslim, Christian and Jewish Coexistence. He sits on the board of New America and PEN America.


Krista Tippett
Founder of the On Being Project
Krista Tippett founded and leads the On Being Project, a groundbreaking media and public life initiative pursuing “deep thinking and moral imagination, social courage and joy, to renew inner life, outer life, and life together.” The Peabody award-winning On Being radio show that she created and hosts, now heard on 400 public radio stations across the US, takes up the great questions of meaning as they are being reframed in 21st-century lives and disciplines: what does it mean to be human, how we do want to live, and who will we be to each other? The On Being podcast has been downloaded over 200 million times. The Civil Conversations Project, which Tippett curates, has been lauded across the US political and cultural spectrum and is inspiring and resourcing initiatives across the globe. Tippett’s third book, Becoming Wise: An Inquiry into the Mystery and Art of Living, was a New York Times bestseller. She is also the author of two other books, Einstein’s God and Speaking of Faith.


Eboo Patel
Founder of the Interfaith Youth Core
Eboo Patel is the Founder and President of Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC), a nonprofit organization that is working to make interfaith cooperation a social norm in America. He is the author of four books and dozens of articles, has spoken on more than 150 campuses, and served on President Obama’s Inaugural Faith Council. A key figure on issues of religious diversity and democracy, Patel was named one of America’s Best Leaders by US News & World Report in 2009. He is the author of Acts of Faith: The Story of an American Muslim, the Struggle for the Soul of a Generation; Sacred Ground: Pluralism, Prejudice, and the Promise of America; Interfaith Leadership: A Primer; and Out of Many Faiths: Religious Diversity and the American Promise. He also publishes a regular blog for Inside Higher Ed called “Conversations on Diversity.”
