1776 Partners with New America to Open New DC Campus

Press Release
Nov. 20, 2019

Today, 1776 announces the reopening of their entrepreneurial focused incubator and workspace in the District of Columbia via a partnership with New America. 1776 has opened the doors to its new 16,000 square foot campus at 740 15th Street, NW to once again be a center for innovation and support new and existing businesses through curated programming and application-based membership.

1776 first opened its doors in Washington, D.C. in 2013, and has since grown to become the nation’s largest network of incubators that cultivates and empowers companies and entrepreneurs to fuel innovation and growth. 1776 will take over management of the entire 8th floor of the building and feature on-demand hot desks, reserved desks, and private offices along with a 200 person private event space.

Together, 1776 and New America will work to complement their programming and knowledge centers to provide additional resources, experts and programming to support early stage startups in an effort to transform industries. This partnership with New America is forged from a common belief in the power of ideas and the empowerment of individuals to effectuate change.

“1776 is thrilled to be coming back to the District and open our doors once again to the disrupters, innovators, and founders working to tackle our country’s most difficult challenges,” said Jennifer Maher, CEO of 1776. “This partnership with New America allows us to build a central gathering place for the DC Tech community and all those seeking to build enduring and high growth companies. We greatly appreciate Savills Managing Director Ken Biberaj’s efforts to make this happen.” Maher concluded. “We are pleased to welcome 1776 to our space," said Tyra Mariani, President and COO of New America. "New America has long been a home for big ideas to develop and flourish, and we're thrilled to partner with 1776 to provide a home base for D.C. entrepreneurs to surface and build the next big innovation. We are grateful for Michael Goldman of MGA and his long-standing relationship with New America that was able to help bring about this partnership."

"There is a clear synergy between New America and 1776, and this partnership addresses unique needs for both sides,” said Ken Biberaj, Managing Director, Savills and broker on the project. “This arrangement is to the benefit of each group and it was exciting to be a part of this innovative process.”
