Michael Calabrese, director of the Wireless Future Project at New America's Open Technology Institute, and Raza Panjwani, a senior policy counsel at New America's Open Technology Institute, were quoted in a CNET article about how this election will have ripple effects that touch broadband policy.

"If Trump wins, there is a real possibility that Elon Musk could prevail upon him to change the program’s rules to favor satellite broadband connections, most of which would be purchased from Musk’s SpaceX, which has a virtual monopoly."

"The big question will be to what extent the Courts will let the Commission’s efforts, such as net neutrality, stand."

“Regardless of the election results, the Supreme Court could decide that the FCC does not have the authority to impose the sort of network neutrality rules that have always applied to phone networks,” said Calabrese. “If the Court rules against the FCC, Congress will need to resolve the question. If Trump wins and the Court upholds the FCC’s authority, the regulatory ping pong will likely resume, with the new Republican majority at the FCC repealing the rules, much as they did during Trump’s first term.”
