Aditya K. Kaushik was a 2019 India-U.S. Fellow at New America. Kaushik works as a project scientist at Divecha Centre for Climate Change at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore. He is currently working on establishing a Water Solutions Lab at IISc with an aim to address water sector related challenges in India by bridging the gap between science and policy and between knowledge and practice through a combination of advanced scientific knowledge, multi-stakeholder involvement, and digital information technology. He is also a member of the international secretariat of the Sustainable Water Future program of Future Earth where he assists in science-policy communication and outreach activities aimed at making scientific information and concepts useful for policy-making.
As a fellow, Kaushik will undertake a research project to showcase how blockchain based solutions can bring about a fundamental shift in water management in light of current global trends and climate change impacts. The objective of the project will be to develop a blueprint on how the internet of things, predictive analytics, and big data integrated over a blockchain network can facilitate efficient, transparent, and democratic smart water governance in urban areas.
Kaushik holds a master of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California and a master of arts degree in law and diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University.
