Beth Geiger is the Educator Pathways Lead for the Washington Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB). In this role she oversees a suite of efforts aimed at diversifying the educator workforce and mitigating the teacher shortage, including Washington’s Alternative Routes to Certification programs, the Alternative Routes Block Grant, and Recruiting Washington Teachers. Prior to joining PESB, Beth worked at Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples in Northern California, where she served as the research and strategic assistant to the organization's President. She is originally from Southeast Alaska and has a history of critical research on social and environmental justice issues tied to her home state, including her master’s degree work examining sociopolitical barriers to Tlingit language revitalization and the repercussions of Alaska’s education system for Alaska Native students. She holds a master’s degree in social science from Humboldt State University and a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from the University of Alaska Southeast.
