Betsy Prueter was the senior research and program manager for New America's Postsecondary National Policy Institute (PNPI), which provided professional development to congressional staffers on a full range of postsecondary issues on a regular and ongoing basis. Prueter came to PNPI from Madison, Wisconsin where she was an Education Specialist for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Betsy directed federal grants to facilitate academic service-learning and family-school-community partnerships in low-income schools. Prior to her work at the K-12 level, Prueter enjoyed teaching and mentoring college students at the University of Wisconsin and through Massachusetts Campus Compact. Prueter has consulted with non-profits in D.C. and across the country- with a focus on staff development, continuing education, racial justice, program evaluation and asset-based community development and organizing.
Prueter holds a B.A. from Denison University and an M.A. in Education Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her master's thesis analyzed democratic and civic education in experimental higher education settings.
Prueter is a native of Cleveland, Ohio.
