Chiraag Bains is a senior fellow at Democracy Fund and nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. He served as Deputy Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council and Deputy Assistant to the President for Racial Justice & Equity under President Biden. During the Obama administration, he served as senior counsel to the head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division and a line prosecutor before that. He was also the Director of Legal Strategies at the nonprofit organization Demos and a visiting fellow at Harvard Law School.
