Christie McLean Kesler, M.Ed., is a Senior Instructor and Partnership and Field Experience Coordinator for Western Washington University’s Woodring Multilingual Teaching Fellow program. Passionate about supporting teachers both new and experienced, she is also a Program Mentor working to help them expand and deepen their instructional practice. She has written and presented on this for Grow Your Own teacher certification programs.

In addition, Christie is a literacy specialist, instructor, and professional developer in the Pacific Northwest. She has authored numerous literacy materials for teachers and coaches and has most recently co-authored CoreEmpathy: Literacy Instruction with a Greater Purpose (NCTE, 2021.) She’s the teacher that students describe as “inspiring,” “enlightening,” “effective,” and “encouraging.” Her love for teaching and learning began as an elementary classroom teacher. Christie lives north of Seattle, is the mother of two incredible young adults, and loves to “play” all things mountains and water.
