Cuong Nguyen was a Social Science & Data Analytics Fellow in New America’s Future Frontlines program. He manages project data flows and provides data driven research on circumstances that led to the 2021 United States Capitol attack.
Prior to joining the program, Cuong worked as a Research Assistant for a USAID-funded project at the Franklin & Marshall College, conducting research on human rights and LGBT rights across the world. He also worked as a research intern for the Defense-Industrial Initiatives Group at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, where he conducted research on comparative defense budgeting processes as well as incorporated and interpreted data regarding international military sales. Previously, he held internships at Center for American Progress and Public Citizen, where his work focused on labor economics and international trade.
He holds a master’s degree in Applied Economics and a graduate certificate in Data Science from The George Washington University. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a concentration in Comparative Politics and International Relations from the University of Montana.
