Derek Donahoo was a fellow in New America’s Cybersecurity Initiative. Donahoo currently serves as deputy director of threat management at AIG’s global Cyber-Risk Defense Center (gCDC) in Reston, Va., where he coordinates and communicates AIG’s equities with strategic public and private partners, and publishes finished intelligence products to AIG executives and IT professionals. Previously, Donahoo held several roles within the White House responsible for cybersecurity oversight, governance, and policy. Most recently, Donahoo was a threat intelligence analyst responsible for helping the director of White House IT protect the White House network from Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs). Donahoo also authored government-wide cybersecurity policy, and served as incident response coordinator during the response efforts to both Office of Personnel Management (OPM) incidents in 2015 while in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Cyber and National Security Unit. Donahoo holds a master’s of professional studies in IT management from Georgetown University and a bachelor of science in computer science from the University of Richmond.
