Data and Strategic Impact Lead, New Practice Lab

Devyani Singh is the Data and Strategic Impact Lead with the New Practice Lab at New America. She is a researcher focused on leveraging data and technology to help governments and markets work for historically marginalized communities.

Before joining the New Practice Lab, she worked as a research scientist at Crisis Text Line, where she developed analyses and code to advance the understanding of mental health care needs and access across America. Previously, with organizations like the Aspen Institute and MIT's Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), she has spent time studying equitable broadband access and its impact on labor markets and pandemic recovery in the U.S., the role of technology in improving literacy in schools in rural India, and understanding how better to support small and local businesses in emerging markets. She holds a master's degree in development economics and international business from the Fletcher School at Tufts University.

Devyani is a recent resident of Seattle. In her free time, you can find her watching (or talking incessantly about) movies, reading contemporary fiction, and planning long road trips with her family.
