Intern, Future of Land and Housing

Ellis Obrien was an intern with the Future of Land and Housing Program at New America. He is currently pursuing his masters degree in data science at Georgetown's McCourt School of Public Policy. At Bates, he wrote his senior thesis on how the 20th century practice of redlining in housing markets impacts current economic outcomes.

Prior to joining New America, Ellis worked as a data analyst in the catastrophe modeling industry. In this role, he helped quantify financial and societal risk from various natural disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes and wildfires. He has also worked advocating for renewable energy at the federal level. Ellis is passionate about the intersection of economic, housing, and climate policy and is looking to develop data driven insights in these areas.
