Jameel Khan is a South Asia Research Fellow at New America. He writes, edits, and publishes content on Foreign Policy’s South Asia Channel, a premier clearinghouse of news and analysis from and about Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan concerning issues of politics, security, and economics. He is also a graduate student at Johns Hopkins SAIS in Washington, D.C., where he serves as editor-in-chief of the school’s weekly newspaper, The SAIS Observer. His policy interests span U.S. national security, insurgency, resistance movements, and counterterrorism.
Prior to New America and SAIS, Jameel worked as a management consultant in the healthcare industry, where he advised academic medical centers, hospitals and health systems on governance, strategy, and new medical school initiatives. In college, he worked for Germany’s federal trade agency in Berlin and also became active with the non-profit Institute for Cultural Diplomacy. Jameel is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he received his bachelor of science in Industrial Engineering and a minor in International Relations.
