James Willis served as New America’s Controller, bringing nearly 20 years of nonprofit experience to the position. Prior to joining New America, Mr. Willis served as the CFO of an international development organization where he directed the accounting and financial functions across eight global offices. Mr. Willis also served before in numerous financial roles including as a Director of Finance, Budget Manager, Financial Manager, Budget Analyst, and A/R Specialist. Prior to assuming an active leadership role in nonprofit financial management, he worked in program management, overseeing USAID-funded healthcare development projects in Central and Eastern Europe and as a Peace Corps volunteer in Lithuania. Mr. Willis received his MBA in International Business from Nova Southeastern University and his BA in International Studies from the University of West Florida. He is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
