Johanna Costigan is a writer from New York. She is currently an MSc candidate in Contemporary Chinese Studies at the University of Oxford. After graduating Bard College in 2017, she spent two years working at NYU Shanghai as a Writing and Speaking Fellow. While at NYU, she completed a year-long poetry writing and translation project followed by a year of research into China’s memorials of the Second Sino-Japanese War. She is a member of the Young China Watchers Global Editorial Team. Her work has appeared in ChinaFile, SupChina, Nüvoices, and elsewhere.
