Joy Thompson, PhD, is a research scientist in the education and early childhood research areas at Child Trends. Joy’s work spans early childhood through K-12 and focuses on broadening access to educational opportunities and needed supports, especially for Black and Latinx youth. Joy draws on quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods experience to understand how educational environments shape student well-being, development, and pursuit of their interests and goals.
