Julia is a Summer intern for 2022 at New America’s Digital Impact and Governance Initiative. She’s a recent graduate from Stanford University where she majored in symbolic systems (computer science meets liberal arts) and is returning for a one year master’s degree in linguistics. She’s worked previously for New York City’s Mayor’s Office of the Chief Technology Officer, in the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and at the World Wide Web Foundation’s Alliance for Affordable Internet as well as on several political campaigns. Her career interests include working toward the equitability and accessibility of government and legal information and resources to all those living in the United States. Julia intends to write her Master’s thesis on the history and changing definition of the word ‘freedom’ throughout American history and the implications for modern civil rights.
