For more than 15 years, Kate Van Winkle has followed her passion for service and social justice. From working in homeless shelters to community organizing, Kate has worked on issues ranging from housing insecurity, comprehensive immigration reform, predatory lending to economic justice. Executive Director of Grow Your Own Illinois since 2014, she considers the organization’s work to recruit, train and retain diverse teachers a critical piece of education equity work.
