Katherine Portnoy is the communications director for the Education Policy Program, where she works with the communications and research teams to develop and implement a communications strategy in support of the program's research, advocacy, and direct service initiatives.
Prior to joining New America, Portnoy worked at the Brookings Institution as the senior communications manager with a focus on global education and skills development. In this position, she collaborated with research teams to help shape their reports, blogs, events, and communications strategy.
Before Brookings, Portnoy was involved in various research initiatives and advocacy campaigns related to public health and financial reform at The Pew Charitable Trusts.
She graduated from Lafayette College with a degree in International Affairs. She is excited to be contributing to an organization where she can both learn from experts in the field and help position their work for better impact.
