Kim Akker is a communications intern for the Education Policy Program at New America. Last spring, she completed her master’s degree in Journalism Studies at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where she graduated with a GPA of 4.0. She came to the US in August 2022, as an exchange student at George Mason University.Before she worked as an (online) editor for the Dutch media company Talpa Network and as a Social Media and Content Creator for a local retail store Kerkhof Laren.
Kim is originally from Amsterdam, the Netherlands and currently lives in Arlington, Virginia, where she enjoys DMV-area and being close to her friends that she made the past semester at George Mason University.
