Marla Keenan

Fellow, Future Security

Marla Keenan is a fellow in New America's Future Security program. Keenan is the founder of Marla Keenan Consulting LLC where she works with organizations and individuals to strategize and launch innovative projects and ideas. She was formerly a senior director at Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC) where for 12 years she led CIVIC’s work in conflict zones including development of strategy and implementation, research, and high-level advocacy with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the U.S. government, the United Nations, and the African Union. She is a Security Fellow at the Truman National Security Project. Prior to joining CIVIC, Keenan was an Edward Rawson Fellow at Citizens for Global Solutions, working on U.S. global engagement on issues as varied as the conflict in Darfur to avian influenza. A former management consultant, Keenan has also held positions with a range of private sector organizations. Keenan holds a master of science in public policy and management with a concentration in policy analysis and international policy from the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy & Management at Carnegie Mellon University and earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Arizona.
