Marla Wilson is New America's vice president of development and partnerships.
Wilson is a powerful business driver whose entrepreneurial instincts and clarity of vision have carried multiple organizations through rapid and continuous financial growth. Wilson has defined long-term organizational strategic goals and built key client relationships in a leadership capacity with Discovery Education, American Heart Association, March of Dimes and as an independent business consultant.
Originally from Las Vegas, Nev., Wilson holds a bachelor of communications from the University of Central Oklahoma where she studied broadcast and print journalism. Although passionate about journalism, after years in the field, Wilson realized it was not her only calling.
Having been raised by a single father, who is dedicated to teaching the importance of diversity in culture, experience, and travel, Wilson soon became compelled to do the same and dedicated her career to transformational initiatives that support equity, diversity, and inclusion for under-represented groups to advance socioeconomic equality.
Today, Wilson strives to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged communities and sectors globally. Whether consulting with philanthropists on how to make a difference or being the driving force of change through her thought leadership efforts connected to mission related initiatives, Wilson commits herself to the advancement of those in need as an equity warrior.
