Matthieu Aikins, Eric & Wendy Schmidt Fellow and Southern New Hampshire University Fellow, spent his fellowship working on a book about a journey to Europe with refugees, to be published by Harper in 2022. He is a contributing writer for the New York Times Magazine, and a contributing editor at Rolling Stone. He has received the Livingston Award for International Reporting, the George Polk Award, and numerous other honors. He grew up in Nova Scotia and has a master's degree in Near Eastern Studies from New York University.
