Nitin Verma is a postdoctoral research scholar in the AI and society program at the School for the Future of Innovation in Society at Arizona State University and the New York Academy of Sciences. His research program is aimed at understanding how the perceived veracity of information is affected by and contested through information technologies. He is presently examining how generative AI is shaping the scientific peer review system. AI’s involvement in this key gatekeeping process is poised to shape science, science policy, and perhaps most importantly, public trust in science. Nitin’s research program is ultimately centered on exploring belief-formation and the biological, psychological, social, and technological factors that underpin that process.
