Oana Negru-Subtirica is an associate professor at the Department of Psychology, BabeČ™-Bolyai University, Romania, leading the Self and Identity Development Lab. I focus on youth identity development, at the intersection of educational and developmental psychology. I am interested in tracking self-formation and how young people process information as self-relevant and self-central. How do they choose from the myriad of information what is self-defining?
My research entails longitudinal and mixed-method studies, analyzing how personal identity is formed and consolidated across time in different life domains (education, vocation, spirituality) and in relation to age-defining tasks (academic achievement, career choice, meaning-making).
My work has been published in journals like Child Development, Developmental Psychology, and Journal of Personality.
