Raiman Al-Hamdani

Raiman Al-Hamdani is a researcher and consultant focusing on issues of security and development in the Middle East and North Africa, specializing in Yemen. Born in Sana’a, Al-Hamdani spent his formative years in Yemen. He has an MA in International Security and Conflict Management from the American University in Cairo and an MSc in Development Studies from SOAS, University of London.

Al-Hamdani’s background in foreign affairs and public policy comes from working directly with policymakers, security analysts, and refugees in international and non-governmental organizations. He has worked at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and with East African refugees and migrants at the Haradh refugee camp on the northern Yemeni-Saudi border. In New York, he worked at the Yemeni Mission to the United Nations as the Military Attaché’s advisor on issues mostly related to the Department of Peacekeeping Operations.
