Rebecca Ierardo is the Director, Technology and Democracy Programs. Prior to joining New America, Ierardo worked as Program Manager at the Centre for Public Impact where she helped launch The Opportunity Project for Cities, inspired by the U.S. Census Bureau’s The Opportunity Project and adapted for local contexts. Through the program, Ierardo focused on increasing resident voice in local government decision-making, building a government culture of trust and transparency, and developing valuable public interest technology that meets pressing community needs. Ierardo also has experience partnering across public and private sectors to drive innovation in areas such as healthcare, refugee policy reform, education, and economic development.
Ierardo has a master's degree in public policy from the University of Cambridge and a bachelor's in international relations and anthropology from Syracuse University.
