Shanell Johnson was the assistant for the Education Policy program and executive assistant to the VP of Education Policy and knowledge management at New America.
Johnson has more than 16 years of administrative experience in the nonprofit sector. She provides day-to-day oversight of administrative operations and acts as a liaison between departments to ensure organizational effectiveness for the Education Policy program.
Johnson is passionate about achieving goals for the team, process improvement, and learning new processes and technical platforms.
Prior to joining New America, Johnson was executive assistant to the chief of human resources for the City of Alexandria in Virginia.
Johnson worked with the administrative team for Associated Universities Inc., where she developed an improved management system for expense processing, logging activity, and communication between departments.
