Stephanie Forrest is a professor of computer science in the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence at Arizona State University, where she also directs the Biodesign Center for Biocomputing, Security, and Society. She is also an external faculty member of the Santa Fe Institute. She was previously Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She is best known for her work in adaptive systems, including genetic algorithms, computational immunology, biological modeling, automated software repair, and computer security. From 2013 to 2014 she was a Jefferson Science Fellow in the U.S. Department of State, and she currently chairs the Government Affairs Committee for the Computing Research Association.
