Thomas Krendl Gilbert

Thomas Krendl Gilbert is the founder and CEO of Hortus AI, whose mission is to empower local communities to integrate AI technologies on their own terms. Tom also co-hosts The Retort AI podcast, and his popular writings have appeared in The Atlantic and Tech Policy Press. He completed postdoctoral work at Cornell Tech’s Digital Life Initiative and designed an interdisciplinary PhD in Machine Ethics and Epistemology at the University of California, Berkeley. Tom also served as the inaugural Law & Society Fellow at the Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing and served as a Fulbright Scholar in Denmark after completing a BA at Northwestern University.
