Xiaofeng Wang was a senior fellow in New America's International Security program and a 2017-2018 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow at Arizona State University. The Humphrey program is part of the Fulbright Scholarship program supported by the U.S. State Department. During her Humphrey year, Wang will focus on data-driven and multimedia storytelling methods. She worked with Professor Kevin Desouza on China’s emerging technology to contribute an article to the Brookings Institution. Wang is also a regular contributor to Caixin Global and the Diplomat.
Prior to coming to the United States, Wang was a senior journalist with the Beijing News, one of China’s most influential political newspapers, covering political and international news with a focus on China’s relationship with the United States and its neighboring countries, such as the U.S. security strategy in the Asia Pacific region and the South China Sea dispute. Wang has traveled to many Asian countries to write in-depth stories on highly concerned security issues in the region, including the Korean peninsula crisis and security challenges of China’s Belt & Road Initiative. She holds a master’s degree in politics from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom.
