Introducing the Digital Futures Symposium Series

In an increasingly multipolar world order, artificial intelligence is reshaping conceptions of national sovereignty—and vice versa. In this new landscape, what are the critical enablers of AI and the crucial parameters of sovereignty and agency?

This series examines these issues to deliver policy-relevant insights in five areas: governance frameworks, computing infrastructure, human capital, algorithmic accountability, and data flows. This collection of insights emerged from the Planetary Politics program’s second annual Digital Futures Symposium in Washington, DC, in 2024 and will shape the direction of the third symposium to be held in November 2025.
