Recapping the Inaugural Cohort of the Eviction Data Response Network

Each year millions of Americans face eviction, yet most state and local leaders don’t track how many evictions are happening in their community, where they occur, or who is impacted. Without comprehensive and reliable data on evictions, decision-makers can’t design or implement effective policies that keep families stably housed. New America’s Eviction Data Response Network (EDRN) aims to change that reality.

In 2024-2025, New America led a cohort of 9 city, county, and state EDRN partners to access, analyze, and leverage data on evictions in their communities to inform advocacy and policy change. From calculating eviction rates to building connections with the housing provider community, EDRN partners made strides to address the information and capacity gaps that impede successful eviction prevention efforts.
