Hannah Rae Armstrong is a writer and researcher with seven years of experience in North African and Sahelian politics and security. She is writing a book about how terrorism and counter-terrorism in the Sahara are concealing the real reasons for rebellion and upheaval. She previously served as a Fulbright fellow in Morocco and as a fellow of the Institute of Current World Affairs in the Sahel region and Algeria. She has written for the International New York Times, The New Republic, and the Financial Times, as well as for policy institutes. She graduated from the New College of Florida and holds an M.A. in International Studies from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies.
