Jason Maloy is Professor of Political Science and holder of the Kaliste Saloom Endowed Chair at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. His recent book on democratic theory and election reform is Smarter Ballots (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019). He previously authored two books on the history of democratic ideas in Europe and North America, most recently Democratic Statecraft (Cambridge, 2013). He has also authored or co-authored several articles on democracy measurement and global variation in electoral institutions for journals such as International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Peace Research, and Politics and Governance. He earned a Ph.D. in Government at Harvard University in 2004 and held a faculty position in Political Science at Oklahoma State University from 2004 to 2015.
