Roland Mwesigwa Banya is a Non-Resident Fellow and Development Finance Specialist with over 14 years of experience in Africa, focusing on data governance, AI, financial inclusion, SMMEs, smallholder farmer support, and the green economy. At Research ICT Africa, he leads AI and Green Economy projects and contributed to the AU Data Policy Framework on public-private data value creation. He holds a PhD in Development Finance from UCT and is a Research Associate at the University of Witwatersrand. Dr. Banya has collaborated with organizations like the World Bank, Genesis Analytics, and the Green Economy Coalition, and has published extensively in high-impact journals and policy papers.
