Serena Bian is a member of the Well-Being Economy Writing Cohort, an initiative of New America’s Family Economic Security and Well-Being portfolio and the Well-Being Economy Alliance. Launched in 2025 by FESW Fellow Elizabeth Garlow, it convenes a small group of writers working at the intersection of economics, policy, and well-being.
Bian is a former Special Advisor to U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, contributing to national research and strategy on loneliness and social isolation. She now focuses on intergenerational peacebuilding, collective trauma healing, and strengthening the relational infrastructure that allows movements to transform conflict and cultivate beloved community.
