Year in Review, 2018
Since we started the Political Reform program at New America five years ago, democracy has witnessed dramatic change and faced stark challenges. Along the way, we've tried to maintain the long view in all our work, knowing that the path to a more equitable, open and fair United States is long and filled with obstacles beyond the crisis of the moment.
This year, we've expanded our research, analysis and convening to include a deeper focus on the capacity of Congress to effect change, the principles that make civic engagement work and give people power, and the politics of issues ranging from national security to Medicaid. As you'll see in this end-of-year report, fresh thinking and new ideas — at the city and state levels, as well as in Washington — are beginning to show glimmers of hope for the future.
Please take a moment to check out this summary of our work from 2018. We look forward to making progress on all of these ideas in the years ahead, and appreciate your interest.
