To get some answers, New America (formerly the New America Foundation) commissioned a series of six focus groups in which struggling borrowers described their experiences. The findings of the project are detailed in a report from the FDR Group, the nonpartisan public-opinion-research firm that conducted the focus groups. In addition, New America released a paper on Wednesday highlighting some of the more-surprising themes that emerged.
