New America's Peter W. Singer discussed the issues that arise with the application of AI to weaponry in an interview with The Asahi Shimbun.

Well, every new technology presents new legal, ethical, political, and moral questions. It happened with bows and arrows, it happened with guns and computers. It’s happening now with AI. But there is a difference. Because of the intelligence of it, it raises two kinds of moral questions we’ve never dealt with before. One is “machine permissibility.” And it is basically the question of what should the machine be allowed to do, as opposed to what should the human be allowed to do?
