John Scott was a fellow in New America’s Cybersecurity Initiative. Scott is the president of Ion Channel (www.ionchannel.io), a platform of services to provide continuous governance, risk, and compliance management of the software supply chain by ingesting, measuring, and rating software with code ecosystem data from vulnerabilities to unstructured supply chain data. Scott helped draft the U.S. Department of Defense policy for the use of open source software and is often called as an expert in this area. He founded Open Source for America, an advocacy group for wider use of open source software in government and the Military Open Source Software Working Group (http://mil-oss.org).
