Katie Powell is a graduate intern with the Chicago Community Trust. Prior to working with the Trust, she spent several years in the direct service and advocacy non-profit sectors. She has worked as a Client Advocate at a public benefits law firm, as an Associate Director at a foodbank, and as a Statewide Organizer for an interfaith advocacy non-profit focusing on state safety net policies. Her interests lie in health policy and the administration of public benefits such as SNAP, TANF, and Medicaid, as well as in program evaluation and data analysis. Katie will graduate with a Master’s in Public Policy from the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago in June 2021. She received her bachelor’s degree from Carleton College.
